How do I get rid of dry skin?

Brizzle asked:

In the winter, I get really dry skin on my face. I use regular facewash and some acne medicine, but when my skin gets really dry I stop using the medicines. I hate it because I wear foundation, and when you use foundation with dry skin, it looks really bad. I’ve tried slathering on lotions, but whenever I wash my face again the dry skin comes back. Please help!

One of the most important factors of skin care is skin cleansing and toning. Don’t use anything available at the market. Use natural home made remedies. Making skin tonic at home is simple and easy. Here’s how to make one for dry skin:
    • Mix ¾ cup rosewater, ¼ cup witch-hazel and ½ teaspoon glycerin or honey and store in a jar.
    • Soak cotton wool pads in skin tonic and wipe face in outward and upward strokes.
    • Each movement should end at the temples. Apply gentle pressure at the temples.
    • While applying toner on the forehead, start from the center and go outward on either side, again ending at the temples.
    • Apply toner on chin in circular motions.
    • Tone the neck too, stroking downwards from the chin.
    • Tone around the eyes, but very lightly.

To prevent further drying up of the skin what is needed is a good, healthy balanced diet, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, 7-8 glasses of water, eight hours of sleep, exercise in fresh air and daily beauty regime. A regular visit to the beauty salon does most of the work too.

Avoid harsh soaps to prevent loss of natural oils and exposure to sun and air-conditioners which rob the water content of the skin. Good luck!

Creams and lotions contain parabens and preservatives, which are irritants. I have stopped using these since i read up about natural humectants and moisturizing emollients…SUCH AS:

Glycerin (pure liquid form), lecithin capsules (which moisturize from the inside out), emu oil, and squalane. Google these and i’m sure you’ll track them down in your area.

Glycerin can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart, Emu and Squalane at natural foods and supplement stores.

Do some reading up on these and you’d be surprised how many people are still fiddling around trying to find the perfect cream for their skin type while you have natural emollients at your fingertips! ;)
