How do I moisturise really dry skin on my hands?
I’ve got really dry, lined skin on the back of my hands. I know it’s definately not eczema but it’s been like that all the way through winter. I apply skin creams at least twice daily which work temporarily, until I wash my hands. Even creams for eczema and E45 aren’t working. I’ve tried putting the cream on and then wearing plastic gloves, but it still doesn’t work. There’s no reason for them to be so bad, I don’t spend a lot of time outdoors or spend a lot of time with them in water. Has anybody got any tips for remedies I could try out at home?

Maybe try putting moisturizers on at night. i think that that should help because they’ll have a long time to absorb the moisture and you won’t be washing your hands when you sleep.

Nuetrogena hand cream is the best. They sell one without scent also.

My *favorite* remedy for extremely dry hands is a product by Mary Kay called the “Extra Emollient Night Cream’. It is intended for use on the face but I find that it is too greasy for my face but is super on extra-dry hands! It is very thick and has a light fragrance. It has the consistency of the really good Neutrogena hand cream but works better for me.

Is it not your washing up liquid/soap etc., I have suffered with something similar - make sure your hands are really dry - and moisturise every time you wash your hands - I use Atrixo
Could it be a shortage of Vit C do you think?
Have you changed your washing powder/conditioner?
Hope this helps a little

Exfoliate. Exfoliate!! This works wonders. A natural scrub that you can make at home. Use 3 tbs of sugar. Teaspoon of honey. Squeeze of lemon juice and teaspoon of milk. Rub all over hand and really scrub well for about 2 mins. A nail brush could work well. A good moisturiser is palmers cocoa butter. or nivea. its not eczema its dead skin cells

You should try a moisturizing lotion
Dry Skin
Do not wash your hands with any soaps until they are healed.
1. Before bed, make an undissolved crunchy paste of three tablespoons table salt or sugar and a few drops of hot water. Scrub your hands for 30 seconds with this paste to debreed, to remove some of the rough skin. Rinse.
2. Then, soak your hands completely in two cups of warmed whole milk every night before bed for 20-30 minutes. Rinse.
3. Then, wash your hands in cooled down cooked oatmeal (make some and keep in the refrigerator). Rinse.
4. After washing with oatmeal goop, apply about a tablespoon of gel aloe vera and rub in until dry. Then, use about the same amount of triple anti-biotic ointment and rub in until absorbed. Don’t just apply. Really massage the ointment in. Use Vaseline-based Triple anti-biotic ointment (TAO), not creme or lotion.
5. Repeat the oatmeal/aloe vera gel/TAO every HOUR when at home until hands heal.
6. Three times every day, massage also about a tablespoon of Corn Husker’s lotion into your hands.
7. Avoid mineral oil, detergents, bleach, and other cleansers and nasty chemicals.
8. Sleep with cotton, not plastic gloves. Use plastic gloves, though, when washing dishes. Use cotton work gloves for all other chores.
9. After your hands start to heal, select a moisturizer without fragrance or mineral oil it and apply before the TAO each time.
10. Stop using the TAO except at night after your hands are healed.
I am out on the tidal flats in freezing temps all day and this winter my hands almost rotted off. This is the regimen that I used and my hands are finally healed and smooth and pretty. I now have foo-foo hands! : )
