“Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion” was recommended to me by my Doctor. My skin was so dry this year, that I was using lotions like crazy. I tried so many of them, and within hours I had to reapply. I was always feeling greasy after application. It was like I was oiling up to swim the English Channel or something.

So I gave this one a try. One more to add to the list. The difference was this one actually worked! It says it moisturizes for 24 hours (yeah right!, I thought), and it does. It absorbs quickly, and left my skin feeling much smoother. One tip my Doctor gave me, that I’ll pass along is to just barely pat dry after showering, and apply the lotion while still a little wet. That way the lotion will capture the moisture.

The ingredients use an Oatmeal formula and contains the following:Dimethicone 1.25% (Skin Protectant)|Water|Glycerin|Distearyldimonium Chloride|Petrolatum|Isopropyl Palmitate|Cetyl Alcohol|Avena Sativa Kernel Flour (Oat)|Benzyl Alcohol|Sodium Chloride. It is fragrance free and states it will not clog pores.

Now here’s the really good part..I bought this in the 12 0z. size at my local market and it cost even more then the single 18 0z. size here. This 2 pack is a super good deal. Next time you are at the grocery store, check the prices. So throw it in your Amazon cart, and by the way, although it doesn’t say eligible for free shipping on the product page, when I added it to my cart,the free shipping icon(with required total) showed up.

Great for dry, chapped, flaking or windburned skin. Take it with you on sailing or skiing trips. Excellent product and great buy.

I too was utterly fed up with the claims of expensive lotions and their producers, making false and misleading statements about their “amazing” moisturising abilites.

Some of these lotions worked well enough at the moisture bit but at the cost of making you feel like an butter basted chicken most of the day!

I approached the 24 hour effect/ non-pore clogging claims of Aveeno with scepticism. I was very surprised and for once, entirely satisfied with the purchase. It is lovely. It works, it has a pleasant and subtle aroma. Reminded me of very mild, wheatgerm shampoo my Mother swore by in the 70’s. Moreover it has excellent healing properties, I had not realised that oats have long been recognised as a major skin healer; even helpful for chronic skin conditions like psoriasis.

LShirley is absolutley right and the post showering tip is excellent. Another tip I would add for problem skin sufferers is to have an oatmeal bath once or twice a week. Have a regular shower to clean yourself, then run a bath with a small mesh/nylon or muslin bag (an old clean sock works!) filled with porridge oats; tied directly under the hot tap (fawcet). Then just soak yourself in the healing fluid!

The secret is to use it everyday all year - even in the winter when you may not shave as much. I have used this product since Jergens came out with it. I used to only use it during the summer and it would take a few months to notice a difference. Now after using this product on my legs only for 2 years straight, I almost do not have to shave at all. The hair on the back of my legs would grow in weird and dark. I always missed some. Now I do not have that problem.

I was a fan of Jergen’s Skin Smoothing lotion that also reduced the need for shaving, but that item has been discontinued. I purchased the Aveeno brand at Wal-mart and it, too, helps to thin out hair and let’s you go longer between shaves.

The Aveeno brand is more than twice the price of what Jergen’s cost, but I’m okay with paying the higher price ’cause hey, I’m saving on razor blades. Aveeno smells better, anyway.

I picked up this body wash by mistake at Costco once, meaning to buy the regular Aveeno lotion. But now that I’ve been using it in the shower, I find that I no longer need to use the lotion. So, instead of using some other cheap brand of body wash and following up with lotion on my hands, feet, knees and elbows, now I just use this body wash and that’s it. Saves time and money. I recommend this product to my friends and family, especially if you live in a dry climate like we do here in Colorado.

I like this product. It is creamy and it leaves my skin feeling softer and better hydrated. As other reviewers have mentioned, you don’t even need to use that much lotion anymore! It really does what it says, it not only cleanses, it also moisturizes your skin.

My only complaint is that, even though it is soap free, it is so creamy that it leaves your bathtub very slippery and full of residue. I have to clean the tub every other day and be extra careful not to slip.

Update: Apparently, it also clogs the tub’s drain.

In the early days of having our baby boy, we were probably a little overzealous in keeping him clean. We were bathing him two to three times a day. Our pediatrician remarked that he looked a little dried out. She said that ordinarily the baby needed be bathed only once a day and she recommended using moisturizing lotion every day. I’m not certain of this, but I think she recommended the Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion. In any case, we started using it (on the basis of someone’s advice)and have been using it ever since.

Our baby has had no skin problems at all, except for a minor amount of diaper rash, which is to be expected. I’d say this is a testimony to the quality of the Aveeno product. I put it on my hands and give him a rub down every evening and he loves it. Personally, its a nice lotion and I like the general lack of any significant scent. As a secondary effect, my hands seem to be in exceptionally good condition.

I have extremely itchy skin on my legs (maybe because I’m pregnant). I itch so bad that I scratch so bad until I bleed (I know, I’m a lunatic). :o) Moisturizer or lotion never helped (plus I hate the feel of lotion on my skin), so when I saw this, thought I’d give it a try. It was the best thing I’ve ever done. It calms the itch, I don’t go crazy scratching and it leaves my skin extremely soft. My skin is so soft… my husband loves it! I add the oil to my bath. If I take a shower I use it as I would soap then rinse off. The instructions do say to pat dry, so do not rub. I rubbed dry and all the oil came off. I’m also extremely sensitive/allergic to fragrances and the smell doesn’t bother me one bit. Once I dry off, I can’t even smell it. Yes the oil will stay on your skin immediately after the shower but it will go away. I’ve always hated the feel of lotion on my palms, but once I dry off, this product doesn’t leave my palms oily at all. All I can say is follow the instructions on the bottle. I hope they keep making this… it’s wonderful.

I’ve been using Aveeno Shower & Bath oil for years. If they ever stop making it, I don’t know what I will do. It goes on easy, absorbs well, smells nice, and doesn’t leave you feeling all greasy. I highly recommend this if you have dry or ashy skin. I think Amazon’s price went up recently, so it’s a little bit cheaper at Drugstore.com and they have the same free shipping deal.

I am Asian with normal to slightly oily skin. I don’t have breakouts and rarely wear makeup (hence no acne scars). Since I live in Hawaii, I have a slight tan all year round. I bought this product as I am 32 now and want to take better care of my skin.

The product tingles a little bit after applying it. It absorbs in well, so your face doesn’t feel greasy. The smell is mild. I am careful not to apply near the eyes as the product warns that it contains mushroom extract. I don’t know what the mushroom extract would do to my eyes, but I am still cautious.

I have not been consistent with the application, and skip using it several nights here and there. It has been about two weeks since I first used it. My husband noticed that my skin texture is smoother looking, and he calls it “creamy” and I noticed that it feels softer too. The pores seem smaller too.

Overall I like this product, even though I have to be careful about not getting it in my eyes. It seems to work and the price isn’t that bad. I would recommend it to anyone.
